VALENTIN DIKUL

© MMXVI V.1.0.2
by Morley Evans

This is amazing!

Valentin Dikul Powerlifting (450kg/990lb Squat, 260kg/572lb Bench, 460kg/1012lb Deadlift) for a Guinness World Record total of 2574 Pounds!

The "Maestro" as he is known, was paralyzed in a trapeze fall for about 7 years as a young man. He now operates a clinic helping people in similar situations walk again with The Dikul Method. His Feats of Strength serve as an inspiration to us all.

When Dikul was discharged from hospital in Moscow, his doctors told him they had done everything they could. Sadly, they said Dikul would never walk again. Dikul began his own rehabilitation by learning to juggle cannon balls while sitting in his wheelchair. He would never be a trapeze flyer again. Instead Dikul turned himself into a circus strongman.

Dikul was born in 1947.

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

Valentin was an incredible man. His achievements after his injury are nothing short of remarkable. There is a lot to be said about Soviet style training, it seems superior to western style strength training in many ways.

I write a little about my progress with prochnost training on My Blog. Clearly I am not a strong man like Valentin, I am rather scrawny, but the techniques have helped me reach a new level of strength.
