What Not To Eat

At the bottom of http://morleyevans2.com/JuicePLUS/Athletes.htm, is a link to "Fructose: How Bad Is It?" and two videos.

Fructose is pretty bad. If I am reading things correctly, it seems that the sucrose molecule (table sugar) is made up of glucose and fructose. Table sugar is already highly refined and has been clearly associated with chronic diseases like diabetes since sugar became widely available in the late eighteenth century. In 1966, a Japanese chemist figured out how to break the molecule to isolate fructose — which does not occur by itself in nature. It became possible to manufacture High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) which is cheaper than sugar and 200 times more sweet.

American corn growers were delighted, of course. The American Farm Bill subsidizes corn production making it impossible for other foods to compete with corn which is sold below its cost of production. Today, corn can be found in everything. Delighted also were the people who buy sugar to make things appealing to the palate. Sugar has always been high-priced because of the sugar monopoly which was created by government in the first place. HFCS today is in everything, especially in soda pop.

Cows evolved to eat grass. Today, they feed corn to cows. They feed cows to cows too, but that is another story.

Fructose has turned out to be a very bad addition to our diets. Did you ever wonder where those 300 pound children came from? How about 500 pound adults? Obese babies? Fructose, not fat, is responsible for "fatty liver syndrome", non-alchoholic sclerosis of the liver, dramatic increases in obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and even cancer.

Eat your fruits and vegetables. No soda pop, thank you. Table sugar is bad enough. Fructose, by itself, is worse.

Indians in the Andes have been chewing coca leaves for centuries. They still do it today. Then "modern man" figured out how to isolate the "active ingredient" and manufacture cocaine to increase potency. This is the pharmaceutical approach. The rest is history. Fructose is even more harmful than cocaine. Fructose is even more harmful than heroin which is made by isolating and concentrating the "active ingredient" in opium. Eat your fruits and vegetables. Avoid processed foods. Avoid pharmaceutical products too.

And you thought you only had to worry about drug barons in Colombia and Mexico. Think again!
